Mr. Charles A. Falana is a native Floridian. He was born in West Palm Beach, FL and raised in Riviera Beach, Fl and educated in schools in Riviera Beach, he attended John F. Kennedy (JFK) High School where he was an All-State swimmer for four years, winning a total of Four (4) state team titles and twelve (12) individual state titles. After graduating from JFK, Mr. Falana received a full scholarship to attend South Carolina State University (SC State), where he was an All Conference (MEAC) swimmer. At South Carolina State University, Mr. Falana studied Health & Physical Education, Recreation & Parks Administration, and Business & Theatre. At SC State Mr. Falana met his future wife (Ms. Yevola R. Brown).

After graduating from SC State, Mr. Falana returned to South Florida to work as a School teacher, Parks & Recreation Supervisor, Jitney (Taxi) driver in the family business (Blue Front Jitney) and owner of a convenience store.

After several years Mr. Falana moved to Atlanta, Ga., where he worked for Munford Convenience stores becoming there first African American District Manager, there he also married Ms. Brown and their son Charles P. Falana, II was born. In 1978 Mr. Falana moved his family to Riviera Beach, Florida and started working again in the family business. He eventually purchased his own jitneys and began his journey into the Taxi business (at the time Taxi’s where only owned by Caucasians), Mr. & Mrs. Falana, became the first African-American owners of Taxi’s in Palm Beach County, shortly there-after they sought to become the first African-American to have access to the lucrative Palm Beach County Airport business, after several years of legal maneuvering, federal intervention and multiple threats, etc., Blue Front Taxi Company, Inc., became the first African- American company to do business as a contractor with Palm Beach County, the year was 1984.

In 1987 Mr. Falana became Director of Parks & Recreation for the City of Riviera Beach. In 1989 Mr. Falana, along with Mrs. Falana and Ms. Bhetty Waldron (CEO/Manager of Productions) established Quest Theatre & Institute a theatre production and teaching program for youth and adults, as Chairman of Board from 1991-1999 Mr. Falana led fundraising efforts which reached its peak in 1995 at the tune $340k per year from 1994-1999.

In 1990 Mr. Falana was hired as an Outreach Worker for the Comprehensive AIDS Program (CAP), three months later he was name Director of Education & Risk Reduction for CAP. From 1990 until 2001 Mr. Falana served as Director of HIV programming for CAP and distinguished himself as a leader in the field of HIV Prevention/Education, Outreach, Community Mobilization & Small and Emerging not-for-profit Organization development. Mr. Falana and his team of employees, laid the ground work (and was the precursor) for many of CDC’s and the State of Florida evidence based programs in place today. As Director of Education/Risk Reduction for CAP Mr. Falana raised $897,000 a year from 1994-2001 for prevention programs, his original budget was $50k yearly. Mr. Falana has travel the US speaking and making presentations about HIV in the African-American and minorities communities, he has served on and been appointed too numerous National, Local and State Committees and Boards, he is recognized as an expert in the field of HIV Prevention/Education and Program Development/Implementation and Evaluation. In 2001 Mr. Falana started “Falana Consulting Group”, which specializes in: “Experiences Focused on African-Americans, Minorities & the Disadvantaged.”

Mr. Falana has received numerous awards; some which include; Omega Man of Year, City of Riviera Beach “Unsung Hero Award”, “Distinguished Health & Physical Alumni Award, SC State University”, Mr. Falana was inducted into South Carolina State University Athletic Hall of Fame Swimming 2000”.

Mr. Falana is a forty-two (42) YEAR Red Cross volunteer, he is certified Water Safety Instructor (WSI), Certified Lifeguard, Certified Pool & Spa Operator and certificate holder of current CPR, First Aide & AED. He has taught over 1000 individuals to swim in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina and currently volunteers to teach swimming to youth & adults in his local community. Mr. Falana is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
